Grand Manan Leading the Charge??

As much as we are all supposed to "abhor" vigalante justice, are their many people out there who don't have at least some sympathy for the residents of Grand Manan Island?? Living in Saint John where the problem in 100 fold, many can relate. The Island has had a long standing problem with Drugs that is only getting worse. On this score, I actually do agree with PM Harper. Reform of our archaic system is needed, to bring us to the point to deal with the realities of today's society.

People try to blame the RCMP, the judges, etc.........look closer people....it's the justice system that is the root problem. Our members of the system, deal inside the law as it is written. In this particular case, people were driven outside of the law to try and deal with a situation that is ruining their way of life. I really hope Harper is planning some real change, instead of just paying lip service......we are watching Mr.PM.

On a releated note, Bernard Lord stated that the government is looking into it also. Where in the hell have they been?? The drug problem on the Island has never been a secret........anymore than the one in Saint John or other areas of the Province are. I guess it has to get drastic before our government pays attention. Once again Lord has an eye opener. Then again, if Saint John is any indication, I doubt it will make any difference in that respect.

Good luck Grand Manan, the media attention will eventually pass........lets hope the politicians will remember.......

Just don't hold your breath.

Election In the Fall??

Still hearing rumors about a fall election. Recived an email the other day that Bev Harrison is heading door to door in the rural area's of his riding to personally let everyone know that the PC's are taking care of them by paving there delapitated roads. This particular person says that he has "NEVER" had Harrison knock on his door, yet he is now pounding the pavement talking about the pavement........anyone else seeing their MLA around town more that they normally would?? Despite Lord's statements to the contrary, are we heading to the polls this fall?? I'm hearing rumors that Lord is getting mundo pressure to call an election while they are back up in the polls. It certainly fits......spend, spend, spend, in the spring, do the barbecue circuit over the summer then strike "while the iron is hot" in the fall.....sounds about right.........

Let the beer and popcorn flow

I always found Scott Reid's popcorn and beer analysis of Harper's plan so completely absurd. Here's the analysis about what will happen this weekend from lifesitenews.com

Better head out to the beer store now; a rush on beer and popcorn is predicted for the weekend as the Conservative Government’s choice in childcare cheques (Liberally aka “beer and popcorn money”) have arrived. The Liberal hierarchy imagines: In the mailboxes of those crazed parents who are depriving their offspring of the wonders of state-controlled daycare professionals and subjecting the poor creatures to the untrained and non-state-sanctioned care of “Mom”, the money sits waiting to be squandered.

The Top 10

I broke down about a week ago and created a blog. When it fits, I'll cross post here but some of my "rants" just don't belong here because...well this is PNB's blog not mine and he has graciously allowed me to be part of the team even though we disagree most of the time.

However, I started a list on the "Spink about it" blog on the 10 people who are screwing up N.B. I'd love to see some of the regular posters here join in the discussion, yes even you Mike (anonymous), and come up with their own top 10. Someone on Charles Leblanc's blog already listed my name as a choice. I wish I had that much pull. LOL. For now however, I'm not allowing anonymous comments because I've seen how out of hand that can get when no accountability is allowed.

Of weathergirls and lawyers

I know I'm a little late on this one but this issue still sticks in my craw. Liberal MLA Mike Murphy uses the word "weathergirl" in the legislature and Tory MLA Margaret Ann Blaney essentially goes ballistic into hyper-feminism mode. I highly doubt Murphy meant anything derogatory by it at all. Blaney's made noise on this type of issue before but I often wonder how much of it is just for show to keep the folks over at Status of Women happy. After all, a few weeks ago there were those within the Status of Women who were publicly slamming Blaney for not making a fuss about the Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton not providing abortion. Gee, if you're a woman, do you have to automatically support abortion? It seems so, if you want to be accepted into the fold of the Status of Women. Lest anyone think I'm anti-feminism, let me once again recommend the book, The Death of Right and Wrong by Tammy Bruce. Bruce is a pro-abortion, lesbian who was the President of the National Organization of Women in LA, probably the world's most renowned feminist organization. Bruce is a straight shooter who is bang on the money on feminist issues and a host of other social issues. A good read, however I digress.Mike Murphy should have done the right thing and called Blaney's comments exactly whatt they were...ridiculous. Instead he does what all lawyers seem to do first. He sues her which pretty much puts him out of the running to ever lead the Liberal Party or even possibly get relected. Sorry Mike, most people are pretty sick of lawyers suing everyone particularly over nonsense. That's the reason everyone has higher insurance rates and is afraid to do pretty much anything because of sue-happy lawyers. Murphy eventually withdrew his lawsuit but the damage was done. Both of these politicians screwed up big-time on this one but I have to give the screw-up edge to Murphy. He could have come away on the high ground but chose to sink to the sewer instead.

Still Alive and Kicking!!

Nope I haven't gone and abandoned ship. Just busy with other projects. I kinda miss the old blog, but just no time or left over energy to put into this right now. Lets just say PNB is on Hiatus until the fall!! ~Grin.

Just a few thoughts while i'm here though. Tanker is making a mockery of the speakers chair (Nuff said). Premier Lord is doing a fine job of hiding out, except when it's "good news" announcements. Shawn Graham is looking worse by the day. Oh and banning Charles from the Leg was just plain silly. Security risk my ass. Pain in the Ass for politicians perhaps, but at least be honest. Then again why expect honesty from our elected officials. Why would they start now??? I think we all knew it was probably coming. Charles stuck to many pins and made to many enemies for anything but. My question is, did his Liberal buddies like Graham even stand up for him??? I bet not. See where working for the Libs get's you Charles???

Hey what about the rumblings about Squak of the Town not returning in the fall in Saint John???? I'm wondering if the show will be gone or just the host. Or maybe the status quo?? Interesting..........

Oh and while i'm here.......what do you people think about the new "locked in price" of gas?? I'm thinking it sure helped that the gas companies gave it the "big bump" just before the legislation came into effect. Grab your ankles folks!!!! Big Brucie the Oil barron has got something for you!!

Ok that was just uncalled for.........LOL

I think i'll leave it there for now.......

Cya in September for sure........although.......who knows I may pop in now and then! :-)
